I’ve tested the 13 best registered agent services in Arkansas. Here’s my review.

Once I realized that not everybody has the time and patience to evaluate every Arkansas registered agent service on the market, I knew it was time to step in and put my obsessive research skills to good use.

In the process of finding the best registered agent in Arkansas, I’ve personally signed up for over a dozen registered agents and put hours into price comparisons, website critiques, and rating user experience.

If you need an Arkansas registered agent service but don’t have the resources to conduct your own comprehensive search, this is the article for you.

The Best Registered Agent Service: Northwest Registered Agent

Positives:

  • Easy sign-up process
  • Mail scanning, forwarding, and uploading
  • Alerts for important upcoming compliance deadlines
  • $125 per state per year
  • Corporate Guides who can answer your small business questions

Negatives:

  • No dedicated account manager

After going down a rabbit hole of information about Arkansas registered agents, my recommendation goes to Northwest Registered Agent for being the best value option in my search.

Here’s why:

  • They only cost $125.
  • They have a simple sign-up system.
  • They have a physical street address in all 50 states.
  • They will scan, upload, and forward ALL my mail.
  • They provide an online account where I have 24/7 access to all my important documents.
  • They send notification reminders about ALL compliance dates I need to meet to stay in good standing with the Arkansas Secretary of State.

When I was deep in the trenches of my search for the best Arkansas registered agent service, I’d gotten used to so many letdowns that Northwest Registered Agent was like a breath of fresh air. Their website was easy to use, their sign-up process was uncomplicated, and it looked like they advertised EVERY feature I wanted in my own registered agent.

Of course I was suspicious. Affordable and offering everything I wanted? I was on edge, certain that they were too good to be true. But how could I prove that they were phony when their basic and additional services appeared legitimate?

Remember, at this point I was a pro at dealing with registered agents. While Arkansas registered agent services have varying strengths and weaknesses, there was one nearly universal weak link—customer service.

So I called Northwest, expecting the customer service agent to provide the same vague answers to my questions that most others had.

I was wrong. The agent that answered my phone was extremely helpful. She provided specific answers to my questions and complaints, even offering advice outside of registered agent information.

Come to find out, every member of Northwest’s customer service department has real-life experience in the business world. They ALL are able to provide small business advice on top of answering questions you may have about your registered agent.

While Northwest Registered Agent delivers as a registered agent service, they lead the industry in customer support. That’s why they’re my #1.

If you’re looking to switch from your current registered agent, check out Northwest Registered Agent.

Best Budget Option: Harbor Compliance

Positives:

  • Simple online system
  • Fast and prompt service
  • All the basics
  • Only $99*
  • Dedicated account manager

Negatives:

Though they don’t offer the caliber of customer service that Northwest Registered Agent does, Harbor Compliance is at the top of my list for their budget-friendly price and satisfactory performance.

If your limited liability company or corporation prioritized budget over brand name, visit Harbor Compliance.

My Process

Searching for and finally selecting the best registered agent in Arkansas took months of online research and phone tag with customer service agents, but it was worth the struggle.

My Start

It’s easy to follow one thread on the internet and become a self-proclaimed “expert” on a topic. For me, this has been a lifelong habit. Growing up, I always needed to be the one doing the research for myself, sifting through information for hours at a time until I was an “expert.”

Maybe this stems from my deeply ingrained trust issues. After all, I’d rather put a ton of extra work in than take the “easy way out” and go with the flow.

As you can imagine, this gets tiresome in my personal life. Every time an appliance breaks, I fixate on comparing every possible replacement for at least the next few days.

When it came time to open up my first two businesses in Arkansas, I was prepared to put the legwork in. I’d networked, I’d researched, I was confident that each Arkansas LLC was set up for success. Until I needed to choose a registered agent service.

At this point, I had a few business friends I trusted enough to accept recommendations from. I figured at least one of them would have a recommendation for a commercial registered agent or a noncommercial registered agent in Arkansas.

I was wrong. My friends didn’t have the information I was looking for. Even worse, they didn’t know what a resident agent did besides providing a physical street address. So I decided to do what I do best—become an expert.

In my multiphase process to find the best Arkansas registered agent service, I sifted through hundreds of online reviews from other Arkansas limited liability companies, analyzed their websites, spoke to my clients that had used each resident agent to get their opinions, and made phone calls to their sales teams.

But even after going through all of that, it wasn’t enough. How could I trust all these opinions and reviews enough to make a decision for my own Arkansas business?

I decided that the only opinion I would trust was my own. And that’s how I ended up handing over my credit card information to 13 different Arkansas registered agents. Now you know that my recommendation for the best registered agent is based on mountains of research AND firsthand experience.

My Criteria

Narrowing down over 60 registered agents to 1 is a tall order. I couldn’t have done it without setting up criteria to guide my search.

Going into my search for the best resident agent in Arkansas, I had no idea the range of duties a registered agent is responsible for. I knew they supplied a physical address to your Arkansas business, but I didn’t know much beyond that.

A little preliminary research went a long way. For example, I didn’t know that the wrong registered agent service could lead to my Arkansas corporation getting sued or having my personal information get hacked. I also didn’t know the comprehensive list of duties the right registered agent service should perform to ensure my business stayed compliant with state law:

  • Acting as a point of contact for your Arkansas LLC by receiving legal notices (like service of process) on your behalf from the Arkansas Secretary of State and other legal emissaries
  • Providing a business address in Arkansas to list on public record, LLC formation documents, and other official paperwork
  • Receiving, processing, and forwarding all mail sent to your Arkansas business during regular business hours
  • Maintaining a registered agent online account where you have 24/7 access to you legal documents, official notices, and other legal mail
  • Sending compliance alerts about important deadlines (e.g. annual reports, hearings, etc.) to keep your business entity in good standing with the Arkansas Secretary of State

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, the first rule in my search for the best statutory agent in Arkansas was no upsells. I was looking for a full-service registered agent that advertised one price and then actually charged that price. Advertising the “whole package” for $59 and then hiding “add-ons” in the fine print for another $120 wouldn’t cut it.

After that, I looked for a statutory agent with at least 10 years in business. Longevity is key when it comes to commercial registered agents. It shows that a statutory agent didn’t blow their VC funding and that they’ve done a good enough job with their Arkansas businesses to stick around.

Finally, I looked for an up-to-date online presence. Any business owner knows that time is money. Time wasted trying to navigate a website or sign-up system that’s poorly laid out is money wasted. Simple, intuitive systems showed that the statutory agent prioritized their client’s user experience and adapted to the needs of the modern business world.

My Journey

I’m not one to brag, but it only took 12 months of exhaustive research to find the best registered agent in Arkansas.

My first guideline turned out to be a huge help in narrowing down my options. Once I got used to squinting at the fine print on registered agent advertisements and websites, it was too easy to figure out which registered agents used misrepresentative pricing. Any resident agent that tried to upsell me with additional features was off my list.

Other Arkansas registered agents tried to turn their newbie status into an asset, advertising themselves as “eager” or “fresh faces” in the registered agent industry. But I didn’t want my own registered agent making rookie mistakes, fumbling my tax documents or legal notices. Registered agents without much experience in the field wouldn’t cut it.

Finally, online features were a biggie. Many Arkansas registered agent services that were originally on my list didn’t make the final cut due to clunky websites, tedious sign-up processes, and outdated systems.

By the end of this phase, I had 13 registered agents left on my list.

Here’s what I found.

My Results

After personally signing up with 13 Arkansas registered agent services, here’s what I got (in order of preference):

My Favorite Registered Agent Service: Northwest Registered Agent

Northwest Registered Agent is my top pick for a registered agent in Arkansas because they offer every feature I looked for in a registered agent service while remaining affordable AND providing great customer service.

My Experience

Throughout this process, I’ve worked with some mediocre registered agent services. I’ve also worked with bad ones. Northwest Registered Agent was neither mediocre nor bad.

In most cases, I could predict quality by registered agent service cost. Northwest was moderately priced, if not on the cheaper end, so I wasn’t expecting much. But they turned out to be a full-service, professional commercial registered agent.

For starters, they covered all the basics. They provided a physical address that would serve as my business address on public record. That registered agent’s address was available during normal business hours to receive any mail sent to my Arkansas office.

Unlike other registered agent services, Northwest Registered Agent forwarded and uploaded ALL my mail to my online dashboard. Usually, a registered agent is prepared to accept legal documents or receive service of process in the event a process server comes around. Then, they’ll scan and upload those documents to your online portal.

Northwest scanned and uploaded everything, which I could access outside of normal business hours. They were available at my Arkansas registered office to process and forward my mail AND they had a quick turnaround. That alone was impressive.

Another feature I didn’t find in every Arkansas registered agent service was the compliance calendar, which Northwest provides to its clients. The compliance calendar helps you keep track of compliance events. Basically, they send reminders about annual report deadlines and other important filings that need to be made on time for your business entity to keep up with Arkansas corporate compliance.

With those original registered agent requirements in mind, Northwest Registered Agent hits every mark. But I didn’t place them at #1 because they accept service of process or provide a street address particularly well. They’re #1 for their exceptional customer service.

The Corporate Guides, Northwest’s team of customer service agents, is well equipped to answer any questions you may have about your company’s registered agent. The real kicker? They also offer small business advice.

That’s right. If you have questions about the service of process uploaded on your online dashboard, whether your registered agent’s name is on public record yet, or if you have a noncommercial registered agent or not, the Corporate Guides can help.

Likewise, if you need legal or tax advice, have questions about which forms to file online, or forgot to pay a filing fee, the Corporate Guides have your back. That’s because each Corporate Guide has their own experience in the business world. They’ve worked as business owners, accountants, lawyers, and other professionals that know their way around a business entity.

While filling out formation documents and otherwise feeling frazzled with my new business, the Corporate Guides took a load off my shoulders whenever new problems cropped up. The peace of mind of having these professionals only a phone call away (during normal business hours) was invaluable.

My Recommendation

I recommend Northwest Registered Agent to any business entity that wants their own registered agent to keep them in good standing with the Arkansas Secretary of State AND could benefit from small business advice.

They’ll stay available during normal business hours, accept legal documents, and otherwise handle your legal obligations, while also offering unmatched customer support.

Whether you need a change from your current registered agent or are a brand new business, head over to Northwest Registered Agent.

My Budget Pick: Harbor Compliance

Harbor Compliance is a close second to Northwest due to their budget-friendly price and ability to ensure your Arkansas business meets all its legal obligations with the state.

My Experience

Everything with Harbor Compliance was simple, easy, and efficient.

It was smooth sailing from the start. Once I signed up, I had a registered agent’s name to list with my business information. They provided a street address to protect the privacy of my home address, which I could then use on my online filings and formation documents.

Harbor Compliance’s office was available during regular business hours to receive and forward all my mail, accept service of process from a process server (if need be), and upload my important documents to my online portal.

Like Northwest, Harbor Compliance has a compliance deadline alert system that sends notifications, like annual report filing reminders, to keep your business in compliance with the state. As a new business, it’s all too easy to forget what you already filed online, which state fees you haven’t paid, or when you need to file your annual franchise tax report. The compliance alerts are lifesavers.

Harbor Compliance didn’t mishandle any of my mail, so I’d trust them with service of process. They were a no frills kind of commercial registered agent. Even the dedicated account manager was an efficient feature. He was there to help me after I finished signing up and answer questions related to my own registered agent, but he didn’t have advice about additional services. This role is nothing like Northwest’s Corporate Guides.

Overall, Harbor Compliance is good if you’re trying to get the most bang for your buck out of your Arkansas registered agent service.

My Recommendation

I recommend Harbor Compliance to any business that could benefit from the cheapest registered agent service on the market.

They’ll get the job done as a full-service Arkansas registered agent AND make room in your business budget.

If your business is ready to complete a Change of Registered Agent form, consider switching to Harbor Compliance.

The Other Registered Agent Services

Now that we’ve gone through my top 2 picks for a registered agent in Arkansas, here are the other 11 options I investigated (in no particular order):

Rapid Registered Agent—A few fun features

Rapid Registered Agent was a full-service Arkansas registered agent that tacked on auto-filling of paperwork and charge-free text reminders.

But at $120 (plus filing fee), they’re more expensive than Harbor Compliance while offering the same functionality.

Rocket Lawyer—Great for online legal services

Rocket Lawyer is another animal. On top of serving as a registered agent service, they also offer online legal services like counseling and documents.

If your business could use those legal services, maybe the $149 (plus state fees) price tag is a good value option.

Team ‘Nothing Special’

Speaking of value, team “Nothing Special” consists of the Arkansas registered agent contenders that weren’t the best value options. This group includes Swyft Filings ($149), InCorp ($99), SunDoc Filings ($159), Jumpstart Filings ($129), ZenBusiness ($99), Registered Agents Inc. ($200), and IncFile ($119).

Whether it was a clunky website or overpriced packages, each Arkansas registered agent service in this group fell short.

Team ‘Big Brand’

On the opposite end of the spectrum, team “Big Brand” is known for its premium services. This group includes CSC Global ($299) and LegalZoom ($299).

Both are big names in the registered agent world. They have fancy logos and even fancier logos. They also offer additional features that the average registered agent service does not, like $1,000,000 identity theft protection or waiving any filing fee you incur while switching over to your new registered agent.

But I was prioritizing value over brand names in my search for the best registered agent in Arkansas. Team “Big Brand” didn’t make the cut.

Wrapping It All Up

Once I realized none of my friends could provide a satisfactory recommendation for a registered agent service, I decided to put my trust issues to good use. To me, this meant looking into every registered agent service I could find and extensively comparing them across a range of criteria.

After completing my rigorous search for the best registered agent in Arkansas, I recommend Northwest Registered Agent.

Northwest Registered Agent meets all expectations you might have for an Arkansas registered agent. They provided a physical street address, received all my mail, forwarded all my mail, and uploaded all my mail to my online account. Basically, they took care of all my mail and made it easily accessible.

Aside from the mail duties, Northwest Registered Agent offers a compliance deadline alert system that keeps you on top of filing deadlines and court dates. Not every registered agent keeps a compliance calendar or if they do they charge extra, so Northwest adds yet another layer to good service by including it in their basic package.

While all of these services are essential for a competent registered agent, Northwest Registered Agent isn’t my #1 pick for a registered agent simply because they can perform the basics. Rather, they’re my #1 registered agent because they can perform the basics AND provide exceptional customer support.

Northwest Registered Agent leads the industry when it comes to customer service. Their Corporate Guides have real-life experience in business-related fields like marketing, sales, and small business ownership. Unlike every other registered agent in Arkansas, Northwest’s customer service team can answer registered agent-related questions AND provide small business advice.

That’s why I recommend Northwest Registered Agent to any business ready to switch from their current registered agent or sign up with a registered agent for the first time.

If you’re ready to take the next step, visit Northwest Registered Agent.
